Each year, the amazing First Night Monterey celebration is a treat for the whole family. An all-ages New Year’s Eve event, their program of entertainment and activities is sure to please everyone who attends while visiting hotels in Monterey CA. Held in three ‘acts’ which take the audience right up to midnight and beyond, each ‘act’ has its own character and charm.

The show starts with act 1, Kids’ Night Out starting at 3pm. A grand Opening Ceremony takes place on Colton Lawn,

Pacific Street, after which all manner of entertainment kicks off! Music, dancing, singing, drumming, balloon magic, art sessions, face painting and much more will entertain the youngsters as we celebrate the end of the year and the start of the new. At 5:30pm, the Twilight Procession takes place which is the end of ‘act 1’ and the Kids’ Finale. There are also activities taking place in the Monterey Conference Center and the Colton Lawn and Monterey Museum of Art, providing plenty for everyone to see and do.

For its second act, First Night Monterey presents its main event. An amazing nine hours of entertainment is planned to take guests through to the very end of 2013, with live music incorporating hip-hop, classical, blues, jazz, country, rock, pop and folk as well. International dancers in full costume will be taking to the streets, including traditional Chinese Lion dancers. At the Monterey Conference Center, three floors of entertainment will include dance classes to the music of live bands, rapping sessions, drumming on reclaimed objects during a ‘Junk Jam’ and art exhibitions from local workshops. Visitors are also invited to write their hopes and aims for the New Year into the Resolution Sculpture, a community art project.

Finally, the show concludes with its stunning finale – the live band taking everyone right up to Midnight in the Conference Centre Ballroom with their countdown into 2014.
