Celebrating the holidays in Monterey is always exciting. There are events from Monterey Oktoberfest to Turkey Trots during Thanksgiving. With the holiday season just around the corner, check out these holiday events in Monterey.

Cannery Row Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony 

Nothing kicks off the holidays like an official Tree Lighting Ceremony! Head over to cannery row on Friday, November 29th from 5-9pm to enjoy this festive activity. There will be Christmas carolers and even live reindeer! The tree lighting takes place at 6pm. 

Ice Skating by the Bay

Fun for family and friends, Ice Skating is a favorite winter activity. Enjoy ice skating with scenic views of the coastline at Custom House Plaza, located behind the Portola Hotel & Spa. From Saturday, November 23rd to Sunday, January 5th, the ice rink is open daily. Check the official website for hours. 

Christmas on the Wharf

Old Fisherman’s Wharf will be decorated with holiday cheer from Friday, December 6th through Sunday, December 22nd. There will be a free Santa “meet and greets”, holiday treats, entertainment and more. Events will take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Visit the website for official hours. 

Holiday Parade of Lights

This annual tradition is a hometown favorite. The parade includes marching bands, floats, dance troupes, equestrian performances and of course, Santa Claus himself! Carlers will walk the streets after the parade is over. The fun takes place on Thursday, December 5th from 6-7pm. 

First Night Monterey 

This event is family friendly, alcohol-free alternative celebration for New Year’s Eve located in Downtown, Monterey. The event is a family friendly way to experience this fun holiday. There will be visual and performing arts that also helps to celebrate and bring together the community.
