Celebrate spring by enjoying the outdoors and Monterey’s beautiful nature while running in the Big Sur Marathon. Known for being one of the best marathons in the entire United States, the Big Sur Marathon will take place on April 29, 2012. The run is famous for its scenic routes that guide participants through beautiful redwood forests, ranches, and along the coast of the Pacific Ocean. One of the unique things about this event is that there are numerous runs involved – a 21-mile run, a relay, a 5K, kids run, and more! Serious runners or more casual runners alike can participate together and enjoy what is sure to be a sunny Sunday!

Runners can even race for a cause by running for a specific charity. Runners can choose from a group of charities involved and then enlist their friends, family, and neighbors to sponsor them along the way. Each year, the marathon raises over $150,000 for local charities! The Big Sur Marathon, with its spectacular views and scenery, is sure to be a life-altering experience that runners will never forget. There is also new flashy merchandise available in many different styles, so runners can celebrate their accomplishments for years to come.

In conjunction with the marathon, the Health & Fitness Expo in Monterey will have over 80 vendors, businesses, and other representatives present offering an array of fitness and health-related apparel and equipment. If you’re looking to take part in the marathon or check out the exhibits and need nearby lodging, check out our hotel in Monterey, CA.
