When it comes to summer time in Monterey, there are plenty of things to do that will keep the whole family entertained. The first thing to note is that admission to the Boardwalk is completely FREE so it’s a great way to have fun without breaking the budget. The boardwalk features a beautiful beach side amusement park featuring a roller coaster and even a Ferris Wheel! Built back in 1907, the boardwalk was known as the “Coney Island of the West Coast”. The boardwalk also features two national historic landmarks - the Looff Carousel and the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster! Be a part of history as you enjoy these fun rides with the whole family. In fact, at this seaside amusement park, you can enjoy over 40 rides and various attractions! Don’t forget about classic treats such as churros, deep fried Twinkies, funnel cakes, cotton candy, kettle corn and saltwater taffy so be sure to come hungry! If you’re looking for a break from the rides, head to Neptune’s Kingdom, for classic arcade games as well as miniature golf!

During the summer, you can also enjoy the summer movies on the beach series that will take place Wednesday nights beginning on June 20th and running until August 15th. Enjoy movies such as Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Legally Blonde, Raiders of the Lost Ark and more! In addition to the movie screenings, you can also stop by on Friday night for the outdoor summer concert series! These concerts will run Friday nights from June 15th through August 31st. As always, these events are FREE and open to the public.
