The Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix is the oldest motorsports championship in the entire world. It takes place in 14 countries and includes an 18-race series. At the race, you will have the chance to see the world’s best riders compete head to head. All eyes will be on Italian Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo, the current MotoGP World Champion. Last year was the second MotoGP win for Lorenzo. Other notable riders competing include, Dani Pedrosa, Andrea Dovizioso, Colin Edwards, Nicky Hayden, and Casey Stoner, the 2007 MotoGP World Champion. It is sure to be an exciting race this year!
The Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix will be held at the world famous Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Laguna Seca is actually Spanish for “dry lagoon.” The name was decided upon because the entire racetrack used to be the site of an actual lake. The race has a very distinctive track that is 2.238 miles long complete with 11 turns. What sets this track apart from others and what it is most notable for is The Corkscrew. The Corkscrew occurs at turns 8 and 8A. It is a unique turn that consists of a left-right combination along with a precipitous drop. Be sure to keep a close eye on the corkscrew to watch the riders conquer this iconic corner.
