About Del Monte Beach‍

Del Monte Beach View

Del Monte Beach is sandwiched between two parts of Monterey State Beach. The great news is, it’s only five minutes away from the Ramada Hotel in Monterey! Monterey’s city manages the beach, so it’s a popular spot with locals and visitors alike. It’s also very close to downtown Monterey, making it easy to visit after grabbing a meal at one of the restaurants in the downtown area.

Things To Do‍

There are so many things to do at Del Monte Beach in Monterey, CA! Grab lunch at one of Monterey’s local eateries and enjoy an al-fresco meal at one of the picnic tables on the boardwalk leading to the beach. Relax and enjoy the atmosphere—without getting your feet full of sand on the beach. The boardwalk is also lovely for a stroll before getting to the main beach area. Speaking of strolling, Del Monte is a short walk to other famous Monterey beaches like Window on the Bay to the south and Houghton M. Roberts to the north. Don’t forget to look for sea glass on your way there! Del Monte is also known for its large amount of sea glass, so find your treasure to take home. There are also several fire pits located on the beach, so you can have a bonfire with your best friends and enjoy the weather. Del Monte Beach is also great for kids. There are very few waves and shallow waters at low tide, making it great for the little ones to get their feet wet.

Del Monte Beach also hosts spectacular sunset views every evening! During the day, enjoy seeing native wildlife like seabirds and even the occasional appearance by a seal. They’re known for following runners and walkers on their journeys along the beach. You can also see picturesque views of mountains dropping into the ocean, as well as downtown Monterey and Pacific Grove.

Visiting‍

Boardwalk next to the beach

Del Monte Beach is a secluded beach that is popular with locals and visitors. It’s a bit off the beaten path but is still close to the restaurants and shops in downtown Monterey. To get there, turn towards Monterey Bay from Del Monte Ave and Casa Verde Avenue. Then, get onto the one-way street to Surf Way. Stay on that road until Tide Avenue. On-street parking is available. The spots are metered, and there is a ticket machine available. This beach can get busy, especially on the weekends and holidays. Also, ocean breezes are plentiful on the beach, making it chilly in the morning and evenings. Bring a jacket or sweater if you visit during those times.
