Día del Niño at Monterey Bay Aquarium

This year on Sunday April 6th, visitors to the Monterey Bay Aquarium will be invited to join in with the 13th annual incarnation of the celebration of Día del Niño – Children’s Day. Families from all across the local area will come together to enjoy a range of special entertainments when they come to see the attractions of the Aquarium, all themed around celebrating the special culture of the community and its youngest members. Access to the special Día del Niño events is free of charge with the regular admission tickets to the Aquarium, all day between 10am and 6pm. Children under 12 will have free entry, too!  If you’re planning to stay near the Monterey Bay Aquarium this spring, then attend this wonderful celebration while supporting a great cause.

Live performances by Grupo Folklorico Los Laureles, who come from San Jose California, will give the day a distinct Latin flavour. Their special music and energetic stage presence suits the whole family. Likewise, Mariachi band performances from Gabriela Sepulveda will spread the joy even further. Gabriela Sepulveda has featured on a number of national television programs, including Tengo Talento, La Voz Kids US and Sábado Gigante, making this an opportunity to see them in action which is not to be missed.

A family craft room will make sure that even the youngest visitors are able to make something unique to take home as a souvenir, with a number of ideas available and a great team on hand to support guests throughout their day. In honour of Día del Niño, the day’s animal feeding sessions will be conducted bilingually, in English and in Spanish. Scattered throughout the schedule, feeding sessions are a great way to see the animals in action and see a little of what they might be like in the wild. The penguin feeding, sea otter feeding and albatross encounter are always popular, whilst feeding sessions in the Open Sea exhibit and the Kelp Forest take in feeding times for tuna, shark, turtles and many more species besides.
